Welcome to 2017!


We have been super busy settling into the new year, establishing new routines and re-establishing old ones as well.

This year Room 26 is a Year 2 and 3 class, which is very cool as we can all learn from each other as we share our strengths and work hard at the things we find tricky :) . 

We work as a team in Room 26, caring for each other and sharing our learning and friendship. Together we have come up with our 2017 Class Treaty which helps the classroom to run smoothly. Check out the photo.

Totara Junior School Assembly  Whanau Totara ran the Junior School Assembly on Monday and what a show it was!!  Well done to all the children you did a fantastic job!!  I felt so proud  as the children sang and danced their hearts out as they performed the Maori action song 'Korero'.  Special recognition needs to go to Charlie for reciting his Pepeha, and  Elyssa, Hunter and Ibrahim represented our class with speaking roles.    The children had fun designing their own Maori headbands and wore them with pride.  The song related to our Term 4 Inquiry topic 'Two Worlds Meet'.

Inventors Day It was wonderful to have so many family members come along to our Inventors Day on Wednesday 5th July.  Everybody had fun inventing crazy glasses out of pipe cleaners and even some of the parents chose to wear these fashion accessories. The children enjoyed sharing the cars, planes and propellor boats they made over the term. The whole school was buzzing all morning with inventing happenings. What a great way to end an inquiry topic. Following are some photos from Room 26.  Check out Uthesh and Ibrahim's great costumes!
